3187 Point White Drive NE, Bainbridge Island

Welcome to 3187 Point White Drive, Bainbridge Island. This beautiful Bohemian style home, situated in the treetops, is a unique and rarely-found slice of island heaven located just a short 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. Rich in history, this home is part of a community of 7 homes within the Point White neighborhood on the south end of Bainbridge island.

Overlooking Rich Passage, this artistic timber frame home has shimmering views of Puget Sound, surrounding lush foliage, and a beautiful naturally fed Koi pond. Nestled up on a hill, you are surrounded by the trees and can feel the quiet and smell the freshness of the sea air. The large outdoor living areas overlook the Puget Sound and from the open windows, you’ll hear the birds and the infamous Bainbridge frogs sing their springtime song. Wildlife abounds in this area because of the protected greenbelt around the house. It’s not uncommon to see deer, raccoons, pheasant, heron, kingfisher, and eagles.

The landscape is a beautiful mix of fruit orchard, vegetable and herb garden, with a small lawn across from the pond. The mature perennial garden includes Rhododendrons, Clematis, Wisteria, Dahlia, Dogwood and Azaleas just to name a few. Additional garden lots are provided for each owner of the community near the pavilion site.

This 3 bed, 4 bath has so many unique qualities: the reclaimed windows throughout with the fir trim, the wide planked VG floors, the built in custom cabinetry in the bedrooms, and the stunning architectural studio on the top floor with breakout windows.

Design History

This unique timber-framed house was engineered to withstand the test of time even though a large proportion of the exterior wall is glass. The framing of the house is made of 3X12 structural Douglas fir timbers. The floors are solid 3 inch VG Douglas Fir and the exterior is all cedar shingles and cedar trim.

“Surplus pilings became the posts that support the house and define its shape.  Heavy fir timbers from a pre-war factory became floors, ceilings and beams; most of the windows hail from a turn of the century mill and even detail items, such a s brass hardware and beveled glass were rescued from old buildings facing demolition.  My idea was build new; feel old.  Bill reflects.”

With the historic theater from 1936, the Schel- Chelb playground, the casual and fine dining restaurants or the incredible wines and locally made charcuterie served at Suzanne’s Wine Bar, there is something for everyone in Lynwood Center.

You will find the quaint Lytle Beach just down the road or go a little further to Fort Ward Park for 137 acres of marine park with a boat launch, and 4300 feet of saltwater shoreline. Or you could head Northeast to Gazzam Lake Preserve and enjoy 2 miles of gently rolling trails through dense forest.
